We work in partnership with local authorities, public agencies and sport organisations.

Our services include; leisure, sport and healthy living centres, golf and outdoor activity centres, libraries and heritage centres, children’s centres, a performing arts academy and our own dedicated vocational training college.

We operate ground-breaking and nationally recognised health intervention services, route to work programmes, athlete support programme and education development courses.

We take an active national role in promoting healthy lifestyles and physical activity as well as championing the benefits of the Sport and Cultural Trust Sector and the Social Enterprise movement.

As part of our commitment to help young people develop their skills and talents, our GLL Sport Foundation has become the largest and most respected independent support programmes for talented young athletes in the UK.

GLL is an exempt charity and a society for the benefit of the community. Our core purpose is to deliver sustainable and affordable services, which deliver public benefit, social welfare, healthy living and education.

Our facilities are operated by GLL under our ‘Better’ brand. The Better brand holds six values: Partner of choice; Respecting the planet; Better way of doing business; More than a job; Customers and communities at our heart; and Tackling health equalities. These capture our core organisation ethos and culture.
