Athlete Success Round Up – Find out who to look out for!

A quick round up of recent GSF athlete success.

Simon Randerson won three Gold and two Silver Medals in the Swimming section of the European Transplant and Dialysis Games. Simon, who had a liver transplant 16 years ago will be swimming in the 60-69 age group, Simon says “I cannot believe it is sixteen years since my transplant! When I competed at my first British Games in 2004 I never thought I would still be swimming competitively 14 years on. However, it is due to the games that I stay fit. It is always a good feeling when my doctor signs my medical form, ‘fit to compete’. Of course none of this would have come about without the generosity of my anonymous donor 16 years ago. Each competition, each race, is a tribute to their kindness, and a thanks to their family, who without their consent, I would not be alive today.”

Congratulations Simon and keep up the good work!

Maisie Harrhy recently captained the Welsh Basketball U16 Girls at the FIBA European Championships in Moldova.

At just 15 this is a fantastic achievement for Maisie. The team missed out on a chance to compete for the bronze medal after a narrow defeat to Gibraltar by just two baskets, but they came away with wins against a strong Moldovan host team and Monaco – they also put in a strong challenge throughout the game with Scotland who pulled away in the final quarter.

Maisie also plays for Cardiff Met Archers Girls as well as the local Vale Vipers team.

Great work Maisie!

Luke and Paul Nixon have had a great last couple of months winning 16 medals between them in 5 swim competitions!

Paul and Luke came out with 4 bronze, 3 silver and 1 gold medal each.

These great performances have led to Paul qualifying for the Sussex L2 short course county championship Sun 21st Oct in 50m breaststroke.  Luke has also qualified for the Sussex L2 short course county championships at on Sat 20th & Sun 21st Oct 2018  in 50m / 100m freestyle, 50m /100m butterfly and 200m individual medley.

Keep doing what your doing boys!
