JJ Jegede

JJ Jegede is a Great Britain International Long Jumper having competed at the Commonwealth Games and European Championships

JJ3JJ has had a rollercoaster of a career with many highs of winning medals and lows of injury. JJ’s biggest achievement to date was placing 4th with a 8.10m PB at the European Championships in 2012. Another highlight for him was making the final of both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2014. JJ’s goals are to win a major global gold medal and jump over 8.50m. Long Jump is a very competitive event, with even a spot on the Great Britain team difficult to get into. We believe JJ hasn’t yet reached his peak and there is the best yet to come.

“GLL Sport Foundation’s support has been vital to accessing training facilities for rehabilitation. I have been doing my rehab on my own which has been challenging so I’d like to use the sports science on offer by the GLL Sport Foundation.”

It hasn’t been an easy journey for JJ when he unfortunately ruptured his ACL in February 2015. This put his athletics career on hold and he is only just returning to the sport. The GLL Sport Foundation’s support has been vital to accessing training facilities for rehabilitation. JJ is now on the comeback trail, placing 2nd at the recent British Championships and getting closer and closer to his goals. Although he probably won’t be on the plane to Rio, JJ has Tokyo 2020 to look forward to, along with the Athletics World Championships next year.
