Joe Appiah is triple medallist at the European Masters Athletics Championships

Joe Appiah is one of our most successful masters athletes that we support. Last weekend Joe competed in the European Masters Athletics Championships and came away with two gold medals.

In the M45 110mH final Joe won the race by almost one second with a time of 15.22 secs. This was a season’s best into a very strong headwind of -2.1. Unfortunately Joe couldn’t achieve the European record of 15.00secs due to the wind, but is confident at achieving this next year.

On day two Joe ran the first leg in the 4x100m M45 relay and they won the gold medal. Joe also picked up the silver medal in the long jump with a distance of 6.47m.

Joe said, “I have 3 blings now to wear to parties. I was asked to do the 4x400m relay today and I said no. I only run to 110m and that’s it, they will need someone to take the baton after that!”

Well done Joe, another fantastic athletics season.
