GLL has really helped me to be able to continue my journey on the Road to Rio. I have been able to use my local facilities to train, and have been able to have access to sports massages and physio for recovery which has been a great help.
My biggest achievement is swimming for Great Britain Deaf Swimming Team 6 times, reaching several finals in a relay teams, at the World Championships getting a Bronze Medal for my part in the 4x100m Freestyle Mixed Team.
GLL Sport Foundation has helped me by supporting me with gym memberships, allowing me to use their great facilities around London and Surrey. In addition, Sport Science workshops which led me to taking Sport Science at University.
The GLL Sport Foundation has helped me a lot with my training, it’s great to have such close access to a really well equipped gym, its helped a lot with my conditioning! Thanks so much for the continued support.
My greatest achievement to date is taking a bronze medal at the European Junior championships in 2013 in the 400m hurdles event, I ran a time of 50.71s which ranks me 5th on the UK u20 all-time lists.
My biggest achievement would be at last years sprint and marathon national championships. There, I obtained 5 National Titles (K2: 1000m, 500m, 200m and marathon, and K1: 200m) this was probably my most successful and biggest competition.
As a Modern Pentathlete, I train long hours and the road to achieving my goals and targets can be a difficult one. The recognition alone that your award brings, gave me a huge boost and I really appreciate the moral support it gives.
I have been so fortunate to attend many major events within my discipline of Synchronised Swimming, probably the highlight for me was the World Championships in Barcelona in 2013, however the European Games in Baku was also a key competition for me.
Ewan is a nationally classified T38 middle distance SportsAid athlete supported by the GLL Sport Foundation. At club level Evan runs for Gateshead Harriers, and has also represented Scotland at the Cerebal Palsy World Games.
