GSF Athletes had a fantastic European Para Championships, with our swimmers especially putting in some exceptional performances, bringing home countless medals between them! Here are some of our athlete successes;
Hannah Russell had very successful championships as she claimed three Gold medals in Dublin, winning the S12 100m Freestyle, S12 50m Freestyle and the S12 100m Backstroke. Congratulations Hannah, keep up the good work!
Amazing work from Alice Tai who also had a great time in Dublin, taking home three individual Golds, and another in the 34pt 4x100m Medley Relay with the victory sealed in world record time! The other three events were the S8 100m Backstroke, S8 100m Freestyle and the S8 100m Butterfly.
Tom Hamer was part of the Gold winning Mixed S14 4X100m Freestyle Relay team, and also grabbed himself the S14 200m Freestyle Gold, in which he beat his own world record time! He also finished 3rd in the SM14 Individual Medley to earn Bronze. Incredible achievements Tom.
Louise Fiddes put in some excellent performances on her senior international debut, swimming to Gold in the SB14 100M Breaststroke and also winning herself three Bronze medals in the S14 200m Freestyle, SB14 100m Butterfly and the SM14 200m Individual Medley.
Tully Kearney succeeded in bringing home Gold in the S5 100m Freestyle, and also earned herself a bronze in the S5 50m Freestyle.
Michael Jones won the S7 400m Freestyle to win the Gold for GB! Ellie Simmonds swam her way to two Silvers, these came in the in the SB6 100m Breaststroke and the S6 400m Freestyle.
Grace Harvey made her international debut at these championships, and took home the S6 100m
Backstroke Bronze! Congratulations to you Grace, we are sure there’s many more to come.
Over in Berlin, Dillion Labrooy took Bronze in the Wheelchair T54 400m. Good work Dillion! Also, well done to Vanessa Wallace who won Gold in F34 Shotput.
