Anna is new to the GLL Sport Foundation this year and we are very proud to be supporting her. She is based in the Bath area and trains very hard for her success. SportsAid asked Anna what her typical training week looks like, “I usually do two track sessions a week, one aerobic and one sprint/speed endurance. Then, at the end of the week I do a hill or fartlek session with a long recovery run on Sunday. In addition to this I do at least one circuit on the days between my training sessions.”
This hard work and commitment has led Anna to achieve the following:
(July 2016) 2nd in 800m at European Youth Championships in Georgia, Tbilisi representing Great Britain for the first time.
(July 2017) 2nd in 800m (0.27s off gold) at Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau, the Bahamas representing England for the first time. It was a competitive final which featured 5 of the world U18 top 12 ranked athletes including the world number 1.
“Financial support from the GLL Sport Foundation and SportsAid has really helped me to cover travel expenses involved in getting to higher quality competitions across the UK. This has allowed me to run qualifying times and gain vital racing experience to prepare for my major championship races. “
My short term goals, for next season, will be to be selected for the GB team for the World U20 Championships in Finland and to improve my personal bests for 400m, 800m and 1500m.
My long term goal will be to continue to make international teams as I move up into the senior age group and ultimately to compete in the Olympics.
We wish Anna the best of luck and hope to support her along the path to success!
