We take a look back at some of the achievements our athletes that are supported by GLL Sport Foundation have attained over recent weeks as we look to celebrate their hard work and fantastic achievements.
We start with a great story from Bethan Lishman who competed at the British Masters Indoor Track & Field and Winter Throws Championships last weekend (07/03/2020). Bethan came away with two Gold medals for Javelin and Discus – throwing a lifetime best in the Javelin event! She also achieved Silver medals in the Hammer and the Weight Throw events and a Bronze medal in Shot Put! GLL Sport Foundation wishes Bethan all the best with her training as she prepares for the World Masters Championships in July which are being held in Toronto– Keep up the hard work Bethan!

At the FINA Diving World Series that was held in Montreal from the 28th Feb – 1st March, we had a number of GLL Sport Foundation Athletes competing over these few days with the final day being the most successful for our Athletes. Noah Williams came back with a Gold medal for the Men’s 10m platform and partners Tom Daley and Grace Reid were awarded a silver medal in the mixed 3m synchronised dive. Eden Cheng and Matthew Lee were also amongst the competitors over the weekend, a huge congratulations to all of our athletes!

We move on to weightlifter, Forrester Osei who recently competed at the international Solidarity Championships in Tashkent Uzbekistan during the 8th -12th of February. At this competition, Forrester was awarded with silver medals in the snatch, clean and jerk and in overall for his weight category. Forrester is an athlete to keep an eye on over the upcoming months, as he is looking to gain enough points and aiming to qualify to compete in Tokyo this summer. We wish Forrester all the best of luck and support for his next competition in April at the African Championships.
Some more amazing news came from the World Para Powerlifting world cup series which was held in Manchester from the 20th – 23rd February where Louise Sugden also won a gold medal competing in the senior women’s category, well done Louise!
