Craig is a hammer thrower who has had a fantastic season breaking the senior county record
The athletics season is drawing to a close, and Craig sent us in a thank you for supporting him this season.
Dear GLL,
As I have completed a large part of my athletics season I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous and most welcome sponsorship and to take a moment to provide you with a personal update.
I have had an extremely successful athletics season in my final year at Loughborough University. I broke the Warwickshire county senior record with a distance of 66.96m which was selected as the best performance of the championships. I was able to take this form into the Midland Counties senior championships where I became Midland Counties champion for the first time with a distance of 67.32m. In my final British University Championships I placed second followed by 6th at the British Senior Championships and finally winning my first senior medal at the English and Inter-counties Championships by finishing third. My best throw of the year was at Loughborough International with a personal best of 69.79m which is a 3 metre improvement on last year’s personal best placing me 4th in the competition. This throw has placed me 5th on the UK Senior rankings and 11th on the commonwealth rankings (correct as of latest update on 3rd June) despite only being 23 years old and I now look forward to another years training in preparation for the commonwealth games selections next year.
This has all been achieved whilst concentrating on my final year studies in Computer Science where I have graduated with a First Class Honours.
Once again thank you for your support.
