GLL Sport Foundation athletes had a very successful time at the FINA Diving World Series at the London Aquatic Centre from the 17th – 19th May, have a read about what they got up to.
GSF Ambassadors Tom Daley and Grace Reid pulled off a miraculous final dive to win mixed 3m synchro gold. Daley and Reid performed a front three-and-a-half somersault pike earning them 77.19 points and, giving them a total of 322.89.
Grace fell just short of winning a first individual World Series medal of the season, finishing in fourth place by just .15 points in the Women’s 3m Springboard, but still managed to set a new British record of 344.25 points. Congratulations to Grace!
GSF & Great Britain’s Tom Daley and Matty Lee won their first gold medal as a pairing and set a British record in the 10m synchro in London. They finished on a score of 477.90 leaving China in second on 459.00 and Russia in third on 448.50.
Tom Daley has been crowned FINA Diving World Series 2019 champion after winning bronze in the Men’s 10m Platform at the final leg in London. With a total of 525.25, Daley managed to take the bronze medal from Russia’s Aleksandr Bondar. As a result, Daley finished comfortably on top of the World Series rankings.
Sport Foundation athlete Eden Cheng and partner Lois Toulson won bronze in the Women’s 10m Synchro Platform for their first World Series medal of the season. The British European champions won bronze behind China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
