Recent athletes success

With the awards now having been announced for a while, we have been flooded with athlete success stories from the last couple of months. Have a read of a few examples of what our athletes have been up to!

Felicity Cronin competed in the Scottish National Age Groups Diving Championships in Aberdeen. She won a silver medal in the 1m event and in the synchro event with her partner, Emma Bolton. She also won bronze medals in both the 3m and platform events. Well done Felicity.

After racing at the Kayak Sprint national selection regatta, Fred Kemp and his crew won the selection race, meaning they have been selected to race at the World Championships and European Championship later this summer in K4 500m.

Best of luck to Fred and his crew!

Mari Akhurst competed at Waregem CPEDI3* in Belgium. This was her first International abroad and it was a massive competition with 23 countries present and 92 riders competing.

Here is what Mari had to say about the event;

“My class Grade 1 was a big class full of European, World Equestrian Games and Paralympic medallists and participants and those that have a lot more International experience than me and Sky, so just to be placed was an incredible achievement. It was unfortunate that we had the fly incident in the team test, which lost us 15 marks, but we still finished 7th with just below 70%. I had the 3rd highest individual score and 2nd highest GB freestyle score. It was fantastic to see the GB flag on the board on the final day in the prize giving  for the Freestyle 3rd place, with one judge giving me 77%+ and two judges having me in 2nd.”

We look forward to hearing about what you achieve in the rest of 2019 Mari!

Maximillian Tulloch competed in the National Junior Para Swimming Championships in Liverpool, taking home a  Gold medal in the male S9 category for 100m breaststroke,. Max also won Silver in the 50m, 100m, and 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly, and a Bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Great to see GSF supported athletes achieving some amazing things in 2019, and we are only 5 months in! Everyone at the GLL Sport Foundation looks forward to hearing about some more fantastic results you all achieve over the rest of the year.
