Hannah Randall

Hannah looks ahead to compete at the World Championships next year in Budapest and onto the Olympics in Tokyo.

Hannah has been a synchronised swimmer since the age of 8 and trained as full time athlete on the Great Britain Synchronised Swimming Team traininIMG_1147g around 35 hours per week. Unfortunately in 2014 the funding was cut which meant that she could no longer train full time. Hannah was selected onto the England Squad in 2014, but was self-funded and had to pay for her own club fees and competitions.

Having been a spectator at the London 2012 Olympic Games this has fuelled Hannah’s ambitions and inspired her to train to her maximum to gain a place in Team GB.

Throughout Hannah’s career she has competed in many international competitions and attend many major events within the discipline of Synchronised Swimming. The highlight for Hannah was the World Championships in Barcelona in 2013, however the European Games in Baku was also a key competition for her and was an amazing event to compete in.

“GLL have helped me over the last year with securing my sporting journey by enabling me to continue having much needed physio and by helping to support my expenses along the way.  Without the support of GLL much needed treatment would not have been available to me, so a huge thank you for your support GLL.”

Hannah recently returned from the European Championships in London, which the GLL Sport Foundation were lucky enough to attend and watch Hannah compete.  It was a fabulous competition for Hannah to attend, not only did she swim in most events, as a pre swimmer in Duet and Solo but also in Tech, Free and Combo, competing against Europe’s best, but to showcase the routines in front of a home crowd was unbelievable and one she will never forget.

Hannah is now focusing on her strength and conditioning and continuing training with her duet partner Emma Critchley who is also a SportsAid and GLL Sport Foundation supported athlete.  They will both be re trialling for Team GB in September.  Hannah will be working hard towards the Worlds in Budapest next year.

The GLL Sport Foundation is very proud to be supported athletes like Hannah, especially in an Olympic sport that doesn’t receive any funding. We want to reduce the financial burden on athletes so they can concentrate on their sport and reach their maximum potential. Hannah said, “It has been a real challenge trying to train to the level I need to without any funding and I have to say a really big thank you for supporting me with a financial award and also the additional benefits of being a GLL athlete last year. With the help of the GLL Sport Foundation I no longer needed to put my dreams and sporting ambitions on hold.” We’re very glad we could help!
