July Athletes of the Month – Kieran Owens & Trevor Thompson

July has been a very successful month for many athletes, with Rio selected for the Olympics and Paralympics happening, but also our junior athletes have had some major achievements. We couldn’t decide on one, so we have two July Athletes of the Month who both deserve recognition for their results.

Trevor competed at the ECA Junior and Under 23 Canoe Sprint Championships in Bulgaria over the past weekend and came home a European silver medalist in the Junior Men 200m K2 event. Trevor was selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships after his performance at the National Championships just two weeks prior where he maintained his Under 18 K2 200m British title and added the K4 500m British title – he also came home with 2 silvers and a bronze from the National Championships. Trevor was also selected to race at the ICF Junior World Championships in Minsk 29- 30 July 2016.

Additionally, the GB Cable Wakeboard Nationals which were held at the weekend. Kieran won in under 16s category so is national champion. He is now ranked number one on the world rankings for the same age group so has a very bright future ahead of him. Kieran now has selection for Europeans and Worlds in Israel in September and Mexico in November respectively. This is going to be very expensive for Kieran to attend both, if anyone would like to sponsor him please get in touch.

As you can see, both athletes have had some excellent performances throughout July and they both deserve this monthly award. We wish both Trevor and Kieran the best of luck in their next competitions that are coming up soon – please keep us updated!
