Bt Tower 2017

GLL Sport Foundation hosts ‘Road to Tokyo’ event at the BT Tower

The GLL Sport Foundation hosts many events to celebrate athlete achievements, but the annual BT Tower event is the flagship to showcase what impact the foundation has on its athletes.

The GLL Sport Foundation invited sponsors and partners to the prestigious BT Tower event on the 24th of May 2017. Around 90 guests attended the event, including supported athletes from a variety of ages, sports and backgrounds. There were refreshments and networking at the beginning of the night and a chance for athletes to have their photographs taken and speak to the sponsors and partners that enable the foundation to support so many athletes.

A presentation took place in the BT Auditorium where each sponsor and partner was presented with a trophy and signed t-shirt from the supported athletes. The audience listened to athlete interview panels from Olympic medallist Lutalo Muhammad and Paralympic medallist Susie Rodgers speaking about their journeys from the very start to where they are today. Then some younger athletes were interviewed so the audience could see how the foundation helps younger athletes who haven’t yet reached their peak.

Finally, all guests went up to the 34th floor of the BT Tower and took in the stunning views over London whilst enjoying some refreshments. There was a chance for athletes to speak to the sponsors and share their stories. This event is held to show the appreciation from our athletes to the sponsors and partners and there is no better way of showing this than the athletes themselves.

The event was a great success and we can’t wait to support more athletes on their way to Tokyo 2020 and beyond.
