The GLL Sport Foundation (GSF), the UK’s largest independent athlete support programme, is celebrating the outstanding achievement of its athletes who have been selected to represent Team GB at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Taking place from 13–21 September 2025, the Championships mark the 20th edition of the event, bringing together the best track and field athletes in the world.
A total of 22 past and present GSF supported athletes will don the Team GB vest, highlighting the Foundation’s crucial role in nurturing talent from grassroots to world level.
Sprinting Power and Relays
Team GB’s sprinting contingent is strongly represented by GSF’s current awardees. National Ambassador Daryll Neita (Greenwich) is set for a busy Championships, competing in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay. She is joined by Ambassador Victoria Ohuruogu (Newham) in the 400m and 4x400m relay, while Ambassadors Desiree Henry (Enfield) and Jona Efoloko (Newham) bring proven relay experience to the 4x100m squads.
Adding youthful firepower, Top Up O18 awardees Success Eduan (Manchester) and Joy Eze (Newcastle) will both feature in the women’s 4x100m relay, while Top Up O18 Romell Glave (Croydon) and Top Up O18 Eugene Amo-Dadzie (Lee Valley) join the men’s 4x100m relay team. Samuel Reardon (Crystal Palace) will compete in the 400m and 4x400m relay.
Among the Alumni, Dina Asher-Smith (Crystal Palace) will once again contest the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, Amber Anning (Tower Hamlets) strengthens the 400m and 4x400m relay squad and Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff) will compete in the men’s 100m and 4x100m relay, with Lewis Davey (Tower Hamlets) adding depth in the 400m relay.
Hurdles and Multi-Events
GSF’s current generation is represented by Top Up O18 Tyri Donovan (Epsom & Ewell), who will test himself in the 400m hurdles.
He will be joined by Alumni strength: Lina Nielsen (Waltham Forest) also contests the 400m hurdles. In the combined events, Abigail Pawlett (Manchester) takes on the heptathlon, demonstrating GSF’s reach across multiple disciplines.
Middle Distance and Endurance
The middle-distance squad includes one of GSF’s current athletes, Top Up O18 Erin Wallace (Manchester), who will line up in the 1500m. She is joined by a strong Alumni group, Georgia Hunter-Bell (Lee Valley) who will compete in the 800m event, Revee Walcott-Nolan (BG Basildon) adds further quality in the 1500m, and distance specialists Melissa Courtney (Hillingdon) and Hannah Nuttall (Manchester) will both take on the 5000m.
Field Events
GSF’s contribution to field events comes through Alumni Scott Lincoln (York), who will once again represent Team GB in the Shot Put, bringing experience and power to the British team.
Championship Highlights – Opening Weekend (Days 1–2)
GSF past and present athletes made an immediate impact across the opening days in Tokyo:

Scott Lincoln qualified for the shot put final with a superb 21.0m effort – just 28cm shy of his PB – before finishing 8th in the final, the best-ever placing by a British male or female shot putter at a World Championships.
- In the mixed 4x400m relay, Lewis Davey and teammates produced a strong display, reaching the final and narrowly missing out on a medal in 5th place.

Daryll Neita and Dina Asher-Smith both advanced through the 100m heats. Dina later finished 8th in the final, while Daryll narrowly missed out, ranking 10th overall by time. Both now turn their focus to the 200m and 4x100m relay.
- In the men’s 100m, Cardiff alumni Jeremiah Azu and Romell Glave both progressed to the semi-finals. Jeremiah ran 10.05 and Romell equalled his personal best (10.00) in a stacked heat. Both narrowly missed the final with times of 10.05 and 10.09, respectively.

Revee Walcott-Nolan impressed in the 1500m heats with a controlled 4:08.67 to reach the semi-finals, before placing 9th in her semi in 4:11.07, just outside the final.

Erin Wallace also lined up in the 1500m but unfortunately missed out on progression.
- In the 400m, Amber Anning led the charge, automatically qualifying for the semi-finals with a storming 49.96s. She will be joined by Victoria Ohuruogu, who progressed through on time, while Samuel Reardon marked his World Championship debut in style, clocking 44.70s to make the semi-finals.
