GSF Ambassador Inspires Harrods Team with Powerful Athlete Story

Last week, the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) continued its impactful work with partners by delivering an inspiring session at Harrods HQ. The visit saw a GSF manager joined by National Ambassador Erin Kennedy OBE for a special team-building and motivational event with the retailer’s IT department.

The session was designed to support the team following a particularly challenging period, focusing on the importance of teamwork and mental health. More than 100 Harrods employees attended, engaging in an open and interactive discussion that left a strong and positive impression.

Erin Kennedy shared her remarkable journey, from winning Paralympic gold in Tokyo to being diagnosed with breast cancer, and her determination to continue competing throughout treatment. She spoke candidly about resilience, mindset, and the power of teamwork, culminating in her return to the Paralympic stage in Paris, where she secured another gold medal with the GB rowing team. Attendees were also given the opportunity to see Erin’s medals up close and ask questions about her experiences.

The event highlighted the strength of GSF’s partnerships, particularly with Kyocera, a key sponsor of the Foundation and a major supplier to Harrods. Representatives from Kyocera, Colin Bird and Mick Galic, played an instrumental role in connecting GSF with Harrods and supporting the planning of the session. Both were in attendance and praised the event, noting the clear impact it had on the audience.

This collaboration builds on an already strong relationship between GSF and Harrods, following a successful athlete Q&A delivered for the company’s Women’s Network during International Women’s Day last year.

The morning at Harrods demonstrated once again how GSF athletes can inspire, motivate, and connect with corporate audiences, while reinforcing the value the Foundation brings to its partners and sponsors.
