Thirteen year old Kingsbridge Community College student Noah Capps has been selected for the Great Britain U16 Surf Squad. Due to Noah’s age he still has another three years in this age category which is a fantastic achievement.
Selection was based on last season’s results and Winter training session video sessions which must have impressed the selectors. Noah made the under 16 final last year in the English National Championships at his first attempt and this year hopes to improve upon this whilst also competing in the Under 14 category.
Last season, Noah also won the first event in the Rip Curl International Gromsearch series and made numerous finals against much older competitors.
Noah has been training hard through the cold weather at home and in the Canaries, and has also been filming with Martin Connolly of Discovery Surf School for volume four of his 110% surfing techniques series.
Noah is really pleased to have gained support from the GLL Sport Foundation – in partnership with Tone Leisure. Our aim is to support young athletes achieve their potential which we hope we can help Noah with.
Noah will be starting the 2016 contest season soon with the British Schools Championships later this month so keep an eye out for results!
