The England Athletics Mountain Running Championships took place on Sunday 4th June up the mountain of Skiddaw above Keswick.
The uphill-only event was held in conjunction with the trials for the GB &NI team for the European Championships, which are to be held in Kamnik, Slovenia on 8 July.
Scarlet Dale (Club: Lancaster & Morecambe), GSF and SportsAid supported athlete won the Junior Women’s English title in a race won by Inter-Counties XC Champion Anna MacFadyen of Scotland.
Scarlet is also thrilled to have come 3rd in the British Championships, behind the current Inter Counties/British XC champion and the European bronze medallist. This has earned her selection for team GB for the European Mountain Running Championships mentioned above.
Scarlet stated, “I cannot wait to represent Great Britain and to see how well the team and I can do, and I’m so thankful to Sportsaid and GLL for allowing me to train in the amazing facilities at Better Leisure and access competitions and trials for international competition! With the World Champs coming to London, it will be inspirational to see what athletes you have supported in the past will achieve!”
