The GLL Sport Foundation is looking to support over 2000 athletes this year. Take a look at some of our athletes below, and how the foundation helps them in their chosen sports.
Lutalo Muhammad – Taekwondo
“When I first started to compete internationally GSF was my only source of funding and I can sincerely say ‘but for’ them I would not of transitioned from a skinny kid that loved sport to an Olympic medallist.”
“Undoubtedly funding from GLL for a professional athlete like myself is immeasurable especially when you have little if any sponsorship. So it would be an honour to work in the role as a GLL Ambassador and it would go a long way towards me achieving sporting success this Olympic year.”
Mercy Brown – Weightlifting
“GLL has been a funding source that has been helping me from the very start of my lifting career and has been so helpful in achieving many of my goals. There has been much offered to ensure that I could grow into a World Class athlete. This has been evident that their support is very important, especially when I began and became injured, and also in the running to the Commonwealth Games which was crucial.”
“I would love to continue to work with GLL in further improving myself and the group who has offered their continual support and help. I am truly grateful and look forward to continually working with GLL.”
Michael McKillop – Para Athletics
“I have been given the chance to be the Belfast ambassador, this allows me the opportunity to inspire and link with the next generation of athletes and making the Young athletes understand the importance of having a network of support staff around them, when it comes to competing at the highest level. The support will go towards my training and traveling to competitions across the UK Ireland and Europe in the lead up to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.”
“With the help of the GLL Sport Foundation young athletes will have the opportunity to gain vital resources to be able to train and compete at a competitive level. Young athletes will have access to funding training and sports science support, all of which are vital to succeed in sport.”
Make sure you apply into the programme to receive these fantastic athlete benefits!
